Womenswear Designer
Emile Vidal Carr.
Emile is a highly talented award winning womenswear fashion designer. A freelance designer with twenty years experience in the fashion industry, he is based in Greenwich SE London, and runs his own fully equipped sampling and production unit, producing small runs with no MOQ designer garments.
From his design studio he produces garments for his own international ladieswear designer label, alongside those of his many new designer and private clients.
Manufacturing everything in-house in London enables Emile to keep a careful eye on quality. It ensures that garments are made exactly as he expects them to be. This can be an enormous benefit to his clients who expect the highest quality.
Co-Design Service.
Many of Emile`s womenswear clients are completely new to the clothing business. They have a good idea of what they want to design, but dont have the experience, knowledge, or technical language to communicate their ideas accurately.
They often lack the knowledge of garment construction that is so important when designing and illustrating their garments for others to interpret.
Even those fashion designers who know exactly what they want often find that they cant produce designer sketches, or technical drawings. They need a co-designer to interpret their designs visually.
Emile offers a co-design service in which his clients can design their own garments side by side with a professional designer.
Tech Packs.
A very important part of a fashion designer`s job is to create a tech pack for each design in order that the design is made exactly as the designer intends it to be. This is in effect the blueprint for your design, used by pattern cutters, sample machinists, and factories.
Technical Fashion Drawing.
A technical fashion drawing, or technical flat forms the most important part of your tech pack. It is an accurate representation of your design in visual and written form. It needs to be easy to understand, concise, but detailed and informative.
Fashion Illustration.
Fashion illustration , or fashion sketching is the art of communicating fashion design ideas visually. It is used generally for promotion, to be found in magazines, or advertising.
The fashion illustration does not form part of the tech pack, and is not important in the sample development or production stages. It is not even necessarily an accurate representation of the design.
It is often an exaggerated representation of the design, with a designer flourish. It is used more to give an indication of what the brand represents.
