Online Sewing Course
Online Sewing Class.
Our UK online sewing classes for beginners and intermediates are run by professional fashion industry sewing machinists.
These are one-to-one, live interactive classes, which means that our seamstress can give you their full attention, and answer any questions you may have on the spot.
Suitable times for learning can be arranged with each student.
Our seamstresses have many years experience as Sample machinists and pattern makers in the UK clothing industry, and have great understanding of garment construction.
The sewing classes are designed for the home sewer and dressmaker – Using a domestic, industrial, or semi-industrial sewing machine, with or without an overlocker / serger.
Distance Learning.
There are many advantages with distance learning, as well as some disadvantages. For most people the greatest advantage is that you can learn how to sew from the comfort of your own home. There is no travel time, and no associated travel costs.
One-To-One Classes.
One-To-One interactive learning is by far the most effective way of learning from home. And learning online in your own home makes it extremely cost effective too.
Our online sewing classes provide very flexible learning for home sewers. Each lesson is tailored exactly to your own requirements. If you are new to sewing, Renata will show you step by step how to set up and use your sewing machine.
If you already have some sewing experience, then she can skip the bits that you already know, and get straight to the bits that you want to know. She can also answer any questions you may have regarding sewing methods and techniques.
Learn How To Use Your Sewing Machine.
Threading Up Your Sewing Machine.
The first step for the beginner is to learn how to thread your sewing machine. Each model may be slightly different, but they all follow the same basic format.
Winding The Bobbin.
Winding your bobbin is the second thing you need to do when learning to sew by machine. Again, each machine may be slightly different, but the format is similar.
Sewing Tension.
Many sewing beginners find it difficult to adjust their sewing tension, balancing their thread tension between bobbin and upper threads.
Stitch Length.
Tools You Will Need.
The only tools you need would be a domestic sewing machine, some fabric, scissors, and pins.
Learn To Use Your Sewing Machine.
For beginners you will be shown how to use your domestic sewing machine. You will be taught how to thread up your machine and how to wind a bobbin. Once threading up and bobbin winding become second nature the student needs to learn how to sew in a simple straight line.
Improve Your Sewing Skills.
If you already have some experience of sewing, then Renata will help you to learn new skills and to improve those you have. There are many tips and tricks that professional seamstresses learn over the years, that make sewing much more fun, and way quicker.
Professional seamstresses rarely use pins. They learn how to manipulate fabric without the need for pinning. This is a skill that takes a while to learn, but once you can do that, you know that you are on your way to becoming an expert sewer.
Pattern Cutting.
Renata can also help you with your pattern cutting skills, and teach you the basics of how to adjust your own pattern to fit different sizes or shapes. If you are interested check our page on online pattern cutting classes.
