Freelance Pattern Cutter And Tutor.

Mae  is  a highly  experienced freelance  pattern cutter, grader, and garment technologist, based in Walthamstow, East London.  Working  from  her own  studio, Mae has been providing invaluable help to small UK clothing businesses, startups, and individuals for over ten years.

Although she works with multi products, and can put her hand to most aspects of pattern cutting and sample development, Mae is especially skilled at draping on the stand. She skillfully combines flat pattern cutting with draping to create perfect patterns for her clients.

Languages Spoken.

Mae is a native Catalan speaker, while also speaking fluent English and Spanish. She is very experienced in dealing with foreign factories. This can be invaluable when dealing with offshore production and creating tech packs.

Fashion Design.

Mae  studied fashion design  in Barcelona, at the  Istituto Europea Di Design, followed by a one year course in fashion design, draping, pattern cutting and draping, at The London College Of Fashion. She has many years experience as a professional pattern maker.

Draping.

With many years of experience in both flat pattern cutting and draping (modelling) on the stand, Mae prefers the more creative aspects of draping to perfect her patterns.

Sample Development.

In order to ensure that your designs are right first time it is essential to  communicate your ideas effectively, with as much relevant information as possible.

Mae will try to ensure that she obtains sufficient information from each client to guarantee top quality, accurate sampling first time round.

Professional tech packs are vital for anyone looking to have a factory produce their designs exactly as they were meant  to be.

Fit Sessions.

Mae is experienced in attending and  organising  fit meetings with the designer and technical team, in which a fashion model or mannequin is used to assess and adjust the garment fit.

Pattern Cutting Classes.

Fashion Startups.

As with all of our freelance associates, Mae specialises in working with new startup fashion brands, and teaching her extensive skills and knowledge  to beginners. She has worked with hundreds of startups in London and the UK.

The Ethiopia Project.

Mae has been working on the Ethiopia Project, off and on,  for the last few years. This project, funded by GIZ,  requires Mae to develop three separate courses, to help local people learn new clothing manufacturing skills, and  for already working factories to expand  their knowledge.

Fashion Startup Workshop.

Mae provides workshops for her fashion startup clients requiring assistance and advice with brand development.
