Childrenswear Grading Course
Childrenswear Grading Course.
(95) This is a short one-to-one pattern grading course created for anyone interested in learning how to grade childrenswear patterns.
Childrenswear grading may appear very complicated at first, but once you understand the basics, it is in fact quite easy. While it is preferable to have some understanding of basic grading to begin with, it is not essential.
In our classes we try to teach a very simple but accurate method of childrens grading that is easy to learn, and to use on any style of childrens clothing.
This course is ideal for beginners or intermediates. We get many students who are home dressmakers, as well as those looking to start their own childrenswear business and want to cut costs by cutting and grading their own styles.
Learning The Grading Rules.
Childrenswear grading rules do not vary in the same way that adult grading rules do. They are based on age, and sometimes height, rather than body type or demographics.
Childrens clothing generally is not aimed at specific markets in which different body shapes are targeted, although the shapes and sizes may change from country to country.
While children come in a tremendously wide variety of shapes and sizes, there are no markets for for individual types of shape.
This means that you just need to have an accurate size chart in order to establish the grading rules. Once the base pattern is established, then the grading rules, along with your own judgement dictate how the designs are graded.
Manual Grading.
This is a manual pattern grading workshop, although the same principles and methods can be applied to computer grading.
Theory And Practise.
The easiest way to learn how to grade childrens clothing is to use the correct ratio of theory and practise. It is important to have some initial understanding of the theory in order to put it into practise.
Age Ranges.
The workshop cover all age ranges, from new born, up to 15 years.
