A Small Collective.

(18). The London Pattern Cutter is a small collective of fashion industry specialists, advisers, freelancers, and no MOQ factories. We specialise in providing high quality services to fashion startups, small businesses, and complete newbies on a budget.

 We have specialists in most fields of clothing, including sportswear, swimwear, equestrian wear, lingerie, tailoring, etc. Our  associates are specially chosen to offer a range of skills and knowledge within their chosen fields, so the client does not need to employ separate people for one project.

Each associate is experienced and knowledgeable in working with startups, and should be able to provide helpful advice to them. Most of our associates are also able to teach their skills with one-to-one workshops and classes. 

 

Fashion Graduates.

While most of our associates have at least ten years  experience in the fashion industry, we also have fashion graduates who can provide more cost effective services to those who dont require the same level of skills and experience. 

 

The UK – Not Just London.

We dont just cover London though . Our clients are from all over the country, and we have associates in various parts of the UK. 

 

Our History.

Initially established in order to provide a high quality freelance pattern cutting service to established UK fashion brands, and small startups, we were inundated with work from the start, and quickly developed to offer grading and sampling services.

We have since gone from strength to strength, offering a whole range of fashion industry services, especially for startups – Patterns, grades, samples, tech packs, mentoring, webinars, classes, workshops and advice.

Over the years  we have helped thousands of small fashion businesses and fashion designers. Many of our clients have absolutely no previous experience of the clothing industry. 

 

One Stop Shop.

If you prefer a one-stop-shop, we can offer this service too. It is not always the most cost-effective solution, but we are happy to advise on the alternatives. 

Although we go under the collective name of The London Pattern Cutter, we are individual freelancers and small businesses, specialising in different areas of the fashion business.  

We are eager to share our vast knowledge and extensive experience with fashion startups and small fashion businesses. We can offer small scale production for a wide range of garment types. And we work closely with factories for larger scale production runs.

Catering For Small Businesses.

When we began in 1984 it was an exciting time for small businesses in the UK. We had an explosion of entrepreneurship throughout the country, but especially in London. It was a time of massive change for the fashion industry. 

In more recent years we have lost much of that entrepreneurial spirit. We have become a technocracy, with all the available help and advice coming from government approved institutions.

The advice you get from these organisations is fine for anyone with plenty of money and who is willing to play the game. But not for most individuals looking to get their ideas and designs out there. 

We are completely independent, and are committed to stay that way. The advice we offer is aimed at small fashion business on a limited budget.

Although most of our associates are very experienced and skilled, we also use a few fashion graduates for clients looking for a more cost-effective solution.
