High End Manufacture
High End Clothing Manufacture.
The London Pattern Cutter is a high end clothing manufacturer. We work mainly for fashion startups and small clothing brands, in London and throughout the UK.
We provide a one stop manufacturing solution for anyone looking for high quality sample development and small scale high quality production.
How Do We Work ?
Just send us an email to discuss your requirements. If you are new to the clothing business and you are interested in our startup workshop, we can arrange this with our fashion business adviser, Emile.
Assessing Your Designs.
If you would like some professional design help before sampling and production, we run a fashion design assessment workshop in London. We can asses your designs and discuss your fashion project with you.
You will need to provide technical sketches and relevant information for sampling, but we can help you with all of this if you are unsure.
Bring in your designs, along with any reference images, garments or fabrics you may have. Emile will have an in-depth look at your designs and give an honest professional assessment.
Source Fabrics.
If you havnt already sourced your fabrics, we can help you with this process. We can advise on the suitability of any fabrics that you have provided.
Technical Sketches.
Once your designs have been finalised, and the fabrics sourced, the next stage is to provide technical sketches to instruct the pattern cutter and sample machinist in making your style to the high standard you expect. We want to get this right first time, so we try to ensure that we have all the information we need.
The Pattern.
The pattern cutter will interpret your sketch, following your instructions closely. They may have to contact you if anything is not clear. We would need to establish what the base size should be.
The Toile.
We try to avoid making a toile ( mock-up) as this can be an unnecessary expense for you. Depending on the design, we may sometimes advise on making a toile as the more cost effective solution.
The Sample.
The sample machinist will then make a sample based on information provided. Most samples we do get right first time, with maybe a few tweaks being necessary. But sometimes it is necessary to make a further sample to get it absolutely right.
Checking The Sample.
We can post the samples to our clients. They will then check them over, fit them on a model or a mannequin and decide if they need to make any alterations. They will then pass any comments on to us.
Pattern Alterations.
If the pattern needs to be altered before production, the pattern cutter will do this. Normally any alterations are fairly minor, so the pattern can be graded without having to make a further sample. It is rare for us to have to make a further sample, although some types of garment require more development than others.
Grading.
Before production, your pattern would need to be graded to different sizes. We would need to discuss your specific grading requirements. Most grading is very straight forward, requiring maybe three sizes, with 5 cms increments up and down.
Tech Pack.
When it comes to production, we need to know exactly how you want the garment to finish. As long as we have the correct information, it doesnt really matter whether you call it a tech pack, or something else. We can provide you with your tech packs.
Small Production Run.
Now we can do the production run. We will make a production sample before manufacture.
