About The Machine.
The keyhole buttonholer is used primarily for tailored buttonholes, for tailoring, jeans, and outerwear. It has a top and bottom thread, with a third “gimp” thread for accentuating and strengthening the buttonhole. The length of buttonhole is adjustable.
What Is Buttonhole Gimp ?
Buttonhole Gimp is a stiff cord, usually made of silk, cotton, or wool. It is used to add bulk to the buttonhole. It provides a smooth even surface to accentuate your button hole.
Interfacing.
Interfacing is important for stabilising your buttonhole. Without stabilising the fabric, your buttonhole will be weak and distorted.
Cutting knife.
Some people prefer to remove the knife, either because they want a sham button hole, or because they are not confident in the reliability of an older machine.
Buying New.
