If you have decided to design your own lingerie collection, or have even a single design, you need to decide whether you are also going to make the pattern and sew the garments yourself. Normally it is more cost effective to employ an expert to make the patterns.

How To Create A Mood Board.
Designers love to use mood boards, or story boards, in order to collect together various bits and pieces for inspiration in one place. Use a mood board to attach anything that inspires you for your lingerie designs – Styles, fabrics, colours, textures, trims, images, etc. A mood board is a collage of images and objects. It can be virtual or physical.
Draw Technical Sketches.
A technical sketch, fashion flat, or technical flat, is a technical sketch of your garment, used by a pattern cutter or sewing machinist to create your design.
In order for a pattern cutter to create your pattern they need to understand exactly what you want. For this you need to give them as much information as you can. A technical sketch is the best way to do this.
A technical sketch can be created by hand, or by computer program such as Adobe Illustrator. Unlike a general fashion sketch, it does need to be in proportion, but does need to be accurate.
