Ladies Couture
Bespoke Patterns In London.
(068). Trained as a Pattern Cutter, I have been creating top quality made to measure bespoke patterns and clothing since 1975. While I create garments for both men and women, my initial grounding was in ladies` tailoring and evening wear.
I began my clothing career working for Jaeger Tailoring as a Pattern Cutter and moved on to work for London based Designers such as Jean Muir and John Bates. Both were sought after by celebrities of the sixties and seventies, and John Bates created the iconic outfits for The Avengers TV series.
I went on to develop a good understanding of pattern cutting before becoming a Freelancer in 1984. While I continued working in the fashion industry as a Pattern Cutter in and around London, I also started to establish a made to measure couture service for men and women.
While there are many bespoke Dress Designers and Dress Makers throughout London, it appears that unless you are willing to pay a lot of money for a top Designer who can afford to employ a top Pattern Cutter like myself, you may end up with a garment that is expertly designed or expertly made, but you are unlikely to get an expertly cut garment. That sexy little black dress that you paid a lot of money for is not quite so sexy if it doesnt fit, or is out of balance.
I create all the couture patterns based from a list of around fifty precise measurement unique to you. These measurements are either taken by myself in your home or workplace, or if you prefer a female to take them, this can be arranged, While I would prefer the measurements to be taken by a professional I also supply a chart so that you can take your own body measurements if this is easier for you.
I believe that the cut of a garment should always enhance the body, accentuating the good parts while disguising the not so good parts. If a woman has large breasts but a small waist, or small breasts with a big waist she would be unable to find clothes to fit correctly in the shops. Maybe she would like to accentuate the breasts, or disguise them through the cut of the garment.
As I have a very wide range of skills within fashion I can create just about any type of garment from perfectly cut jackets and coats to figure hugging evening wear, club wear or even lingerie. Over the years I have been asked to make an almost infinate variety of styles for just as many types of figures. While womens bodies come in an infinite variety of shapes and sizes, they only have a narrow field to choose from off the peg.
Clients I have worked for include :-
Jaeger, Jean Muir, Lady Ga Ga, The Savoy Hotel, Quaglino`s, John Bates, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander Mcqueen, Matthew Williamson, All Saints, Jean Varon, Jacques Vert, Dusk, Courtaulds, Hobbs and many more.

Women`s Custom made leatherwear requires extensive knowledge of how leather behaves, along with a high degree of skill to sew the material, using specialist tools and machinery. As good quality leather is not cheap, the pattern needs to be skilfully cut to match the quality of the leather.A badly cut pattern would make the garment look cheap. A perfectly cut pattern will accentuate both the leather itself and the wearer.
Leather is a very satisfying material to work with due to its unique and varying properties. It can be soft and pliable, or it can be hard and tough. It is an extremely versatile natural material that can be shaped and molded to hug the body. It wears well and is a long lasting material that ages well, improving with age.
A great understanding of the shape of a womans body is also required to achieve a perfect fit that can either accentuate or disguise as reqquired. My tailoring background is an invaluable one in understanding shape and balance in the fit of a garment.
I have worked with a number of top Designers and Fashion Companies, along with individual clients in developing garments for leather. The type of Leather garments have ranged from traditional jackets, coats, trousers, skirts and dresses, through to more exotic Shapewear and Steampunk inspired Club wear.
