SEWING CLASS

Our Greenwich Studios

All our London  sewing classes  are conducted from our bright  riverside studio in Greenwich. We run classes for all levels of sewing.  From the absolute beginner to the advanced sewer. Our fully qualified sewing instructors are highly experienced sewing machinists. This ensures that you get the very best tuition possible.

Everything is provided for you, including our modern Jenome sewing machines, fabrics, scissors, tea and coffee. We also have a selection of fabrics for sale.

If you prefer to bring along your own sewing machine, we would be happy to help you with its use. We are also happy for you to provide your own fabric if you would rather use your own fabric rather than our provided fabrics.

Beginner Sewing Classes

These beginner sewing classes  provide a thorough  introduction  to home sewing. We use  our own  modern, domestic  Jenome sewing machines. You require absolutely no experience for this class as we teach you everything from the start. This is  a great way to learn a new hobby, or to start a new career.

Your Sewing Machine

In our beginner sewing classes we introduce you to your domestic Jenome sewing machine –  What it does, how it works, and how to use it. You will learn :-

  • Threading the sewing machine.
  • Winding the bobbin.
  • Adjusting  sewing tension.
  • Operating the sewing machine.
  • Types of presser feet.
  • Types and sizes of sewing machine needles.
  • Discovering the different  sewing operations.

Sewing Skills

You will learn straight forward sewing skills, like how to sew in a straight line and how to secure your stitching with a reverse stitch. You will learn about the best stitch length and balance between upper and lower tensions to get a perfect stitch.

Make A Tote Bag

You can be guaranteed plenty of individual attention from your tutor Niki. She has over twenty years experience teaching sewing over a range of levels. The classes are small, friendly and informal.

Niki will take you through the process of  threading and setting up your sewing machine. She will instruct you on the basic techniques required in using your sewing machine. During the day you will be able to use your new found skills by making your own tote bag using our fabric, or your own.

Intermediate Sewing Class

Our intermediate  domestic sewing classes  are the next step up from our beginner sewing classes. They are a great way to increase your sewing skills and to get a better understanding of how to use your sewing machine. We provide everything that you need for the class, including domestic sewing machines, fabrics, scissors and  tea and coffee.

Make A Dress

All our classes are small, friendly and informal. Your sewing tutor Niki, has  twenty years  experience over a wide range of class types and experience levels. As the classes are small, each person is guaranteed plenty of individual attention.  Niki will go over some of the more advanced functions of the modern domestic sewing machine and  each person should complete the making of  a dress.

You are welcome to bring along your own domestic sewing machine or fabric if you prefer.

Advanced Sewing Class

Our advanced domestic sewing classes are specifically for those home sewers who already have some understanding of sewing machines and sewing techniques.

Make A Jacket

You can be guaranteed plenty of individual attention from your tutor Niki. She has over twenty years experience teaching sewing over a range of levels. The classes are small, friendly and informal.

If you prefer to bring along your own sewing machine, we would be happy to help you with its use. We are also happy for you to provide your own fabric if you would rather use your own fabric than our provided fabrics.

The Industrial Sewing Machine

The industrial sewing machine is vastly different to the domestic sewing machine. An industrial machine is designed for heavy duty work on thick fabrics. It will literally last a life time, even if bought second hand – As most people do.

Although I wouldnt suggest it – You can seriously mistreat an industrial machine and it will just keep going. If you buy a second hand one it may be decades old, but should still keep going trouble free . The same is true for overlockers.

We do provide one-to one tuition for using industrial sewing machines for those who are interested.
